We've been asked why we started over in standard height after finishing our Novice Preferred Agility titles.
I didn't want to run Suzie at 24" until she was 2 years old and had her OFA hip/patella/elbow clearances since it is running her above her height at the withers. It seemed to make a ton of sense to me, even though she was pretty easily clearing 1-3 jumps at 24", I didn't want to overwork her young joints for 10-20 jumps a practice. ***She passed with Excellent hips.*** This all went well until she turned two and became a real teenager wanting to name her own games and not be my partner in the big dirt agility rings. 6 months into our second run through novice, but now at 24", she is more mentally ready to have fun WITH me.
But she's improving at a nice clip and completed her Novice Agility Jumpers (NAJ) this month and is pulling up on a couple more titles.
So proud of the leap she's made in partnering🔆
Note: Suzie also earned her NFP in March to complete the preferred series: NAP-NJP-NFP.
*We're still working through a bad experience on a poorly braced dog walk, but that will come.
**AKC just made some nice changes to the agility rules so we can double track up through her Open level and she will be able to track across from Masters to Masters Preferred as she ages out of the 24" jumps.
